Kington and surrounding area
Kington is an attractive market town with pleasantly idiosyncratic shops (including England’s last traditional clog-maker), nine pubs and a selection of takeaways and food shops. The town is ideally placed for walking (Offa’s Dyke long distance path, the Mortimer Trail, the Wyche Way, Hergest Ridge), exploring (Hereford, Presteigne, Leominster and the Black & White trail, antique and craft shops and of course the ubiquitous book town of Hay on Wye). If you are on wheels then there are many beautiful roads to drive or cycle along. There are National Trust properties (Croft Castle, Berrington Hall), English Heritage (the beautiful Stokesay Castle) as well as many gardens, including Hergest Croft, Whimble and Bryans Ground. For golfers there is England’s highest golf course nearby on Bradnor Hill.
