“Unclean, unclean…” the leper cries… (in mediaeval times at least)
I am really not quite sure when I shall re-open in these plague-ridden times – and I certainly do not trust any government suggestions… I was hoping perhaps mid-August, but there are just too many hoops to jump through in what is, effectively, my home. September? of 2021…?! Anyway, you are welcome to contact me for an update (see details at bottom)
So, just for the record: The Bench Mark is a private house that offers accommodation either on a conventional B&B basis or on a weekday ‘bed only’ basis, depending on what the guest requires. The house is comfortable and centrally heated throughout, with no TV making for a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere (there is free internet though). There are two letting rooms, both singles, simply furnished but with comfortable beds and cotton bed-linen. The shower room/wc is shared. The back garden is moderately secure, if you are travelling by bike.
The 2020 rate for B&B is £35 per person per night with reductions for longer stays. As I do not keep a fully-stocked larder, please make sure to call/email/text me in advance if you wish to make a booking.
Points of note: the house has a steep, winding staircase and several steps, so is completely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. Allergy sufferers should note there is a resident cat (and therefore of course I do not accept pets – nor do I accept guests under the age of 16).
I will also consider letting the rooms out to full-time (preferably male) lodgers over the age of 35.
